Tracking the wheel strategy properly in a spreadsheet requires recording the following data points for every single trade:
- Date opened / closed
- Trade type (CSP, CC, roll, or dividend)
- Strike price and expiration date
- Premium collected or paid (net, after commissions)
- Current running ACB per share
- Assignment price (if applicable)
- Total net premium collected for the campaign
Every time you collect premium or pay a debit (to roll), update your ACB accordingly. The minimum information you need at any given time is: (1) your current ACB, (2) the total net premium collected so far, and (3) the current market value of your shares versus your ACB.
